Modern Slavery Statement
Man with Van Barnet Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man with Van Barnet has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold the highest ethical standards and to protect the rights and dignity of all individuals who work with or for our business.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man with Van Barnet has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and all forms of exploitation. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own operations or those of our suppliers.
All workers, whether permanent, temporary, agency, subcontracted, or self-employed, must be engaged on fair terms that respect legal rights, including the right to work freely, receive fair pay, and operate in safe and respectful conditions. We will not knowingly enter into or continue any relationship with individuals or organisations that are involved in, or turn a blind eye to, modern slavery practices.
Our Operations and Supply Chains
Man with Van Barnet provides removals and transportation services. Our supply chains primarily include vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, facilities and cleaning services, and labour and subcontracted transport services. We recognise that some of these areas can present a higher risk of labour exploitation and therefore require particular scrutiny.
We seek to work only with reputable suppliers and partners who share our values and commitment to preventing modern slavery. We expect all suppliers to comply with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and to ensure that these standards are respected throughout their own supply chains.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We carry out proportionate due diligence on key suppliers and contractors to assess the risk of modern slavery. This may include requesting information about their policies, working practices, recruitment methods, and oversight of subcontractors. Where we identify potential risks, we will seek further clarification and, where necessary, require corrective actions as a condition of continuing the relationship.
Man with Van Barnet reserves the right to conduct audits or inspections of suppliers where there is a concern about compliance with our ethical standards. These audits may involve reviewing employment records, documentation relating to right to work, wage and hour practices, and worker accommodation where relevant. Any supplier found to be in breach of our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery will be subject to remedial requirements or termination of contract, depending on the seriousness of the issue and the willingness to implement corrective measures.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our management team, staff, and key contractors. Training and guidance are provided so that those responsible for recruitment, supplier management, and day-to-day operations can recognise signs of exploitation and understand the procedures for escalation.
We encourage open discussion about ethical working practices and make clear that everyone has a responsibility to help identify and prevent modern slavery within our business and supply chains.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Man with Van Barnet encourages all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised directly with management or through any established internal reporting channels. Reports can be made in confidence, and we will take all concerns seriously.
No person will suffer any form of retaliation for raising a genuine concern in good faith. We will investigate reported issues promptly and impartially, and where appropriate we will take action, which may include engaging with suppliers, reporting matters to relevant authorities, and supporting affected individuals.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that preventing modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility, and we are committed to continuous improvement in our approach. We will monitor the effectiveness of our policies, due diligence processes, and training and will update them in light of experience, changing risks, and evolving legal requirements.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed and approved at least annually by the leadership of Man with Van Barnet. The review will consider any incidents reported, outcomes of supplier assessments or audits, feedback from workers and stakeholders, and any changes to legislation or industry best practice. Updated versions of this statement will reflect our progress and reinforce our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery in all its forms.
